Spotted both these parallels in one evening. Fun.
Chicago Town’s new ‘Ultimate Pizza Hit’ by Life and KFC’s new Krush’ems spot both spoof the Hollywood trailer to hero their products. Although the genres parodied are different (action vs. romcom) the underlying creative idea is almost exactly the same. Fast food and films seem to be an intuitive enough connection.
Over in the car category, both these spots below are also playing at the same time right now in the UK. Honda’s new piece for the Civic and Rainey Kelly’s work for the Range Rover Sport both play with the creative idea of some sort of ‘spark’ that leads to the ‘creation’ of the car, complete with near-identical Big Bang moments. Both evoke a kind of visual poetry. Again, atoms/charged ions/energy and the auto category aren’t a million miles apart, so perhaps no real surprise that a similar idea ocurred and won out in two separate conversations. Always interesting to note the parallels though.
